To utilize Digital Media Arts Technology to inspire youth to BE REMARKABLE!
Mr. Jelani Liddell comes from a long line of educators. So it was only fitting that he found his way into a career in education. While a student at Morehouse College he was active in the Atlanta music scene as an artist and a songwriter. Jelani also served as intern for the management team for Arista/LaFace recording artists Goodie M.O.B. Interning for Goodie M.O.B. Jelani was able to leverage several opportunities to perform as the opening act for their “World Party” album national tour. He was also able to collaborate with other local artists as an artist and songwriter.
A couple of years upon graduating from Morehouse College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2000, Jelani decided to transition from the music scene into education. After over 10 years of service, both as a classroom teacher and in a student support capacity within the K-12 educational system, Jelani decided to pursue a career in Higher Education. Jelani earned his Masters of Science in Education with a concentration in Administrative Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
In the late 2000’s Jelani incorporated his passion for songwriting and recording music into his work as a middle school educator. What started as a behavior incentive program quickly turned into a school sponsored club with nearly 50 members. Located in the schools basement, initially students could only earn the opportunity to participate and utilize the makeshift recording studio by earning “Studio Bucks”. Teachers would distribute “bucks” to those students who earned them by reaching and exceeding benchmarks in the areas of academics, attendance, and behavior. The success of the “Studio Bucks” incentive program attributed to the creation of The Songwriter’s Club which was responsible for sponsoring several song contests, including School Song and CRCT Song contests. It was Jelani’s goal to inspire students to BE REMARKABLE! and achieve in school by incentivizing their interests in music. It is this work that has grown and developed into The Remarkable Youth Project, Inc. and The S.T.U.D.I.O. Experience.
Jelani is happily married to his wife, Antoinette, and is the proud father of 5 children, 1 boy and 4 girls- Jai, Alaiya, Alaina, Alani, and Amaya. In his free time he enjoys writing song lyrics, recording music, golfing, and spending time with his family.
